We have spent 2 days meeting amazing people in the slums of Jaipur. We have looked at some of the self help programs that WV have facilitated. These included projects such as spice grinding, where a group of women have come together to grind different spices and sell the powder. They are exporting to other cities in India and are saving their profits. Another group we met have just started their own clothing company, making custom garments for people. It's so amazing to hear their stories of where they have come from and how through the help of WV, they are now out of debt and have some savings.

I have also met some lively and incredible kids. Take 1 photo miss, take 1 photo miss! It's a photographer's dream come true...to a point - it just gets a little difficult when there are 60 kids pushing to get into that photo!

I have made very good use of some new words. Haso - laugh/smile. Just my accent in saying it is enough to make them laugh! Gudi gudi - tickle and bahot atcha - fantastic.

Having a great but heart breaking and emotionally confronting time in Chennai. I am here with World Vision and some artists from Australia and New Zealand visiting some of the projects that World Vision have set up to help alleviate extreme urban poverty. I have been absolutely blown away by World Vision's commitment to this and also the sorts of things they are doing. They're

honestly amazing with the projects they set up for communities to make them self sufficient.

They have lent people within communities money to start their own businesses, shown them how banks work, encouraged them to put money away so that when their kids are sick they can afford a doctor and not need to borrow money from lenders at high interest rates. This in turn enables the kids to go to school and not have to beg to support the family. There are so many massive issues that surround extreme poverty and child trafficking that we don't really think about on our side of the world.

Have also had one of the most hair raising experiences in a tuk tuk! The roads over here are crazy. It's like the drivers are playing dodgem cars!

In July I was joined by Helen Buttery, my new Business Manager to shape and develop meg hansen photography (eg. sharpen things up and smack me into line!). Helen has worked for many years in marketing and brand management, most recently helping build her family wine label, Gemtree Vineyards in McLaren Vale. I feel very fortunate to have Helen on board and am excited to see where she takes us.

Recently we have moved into our very own space at Mitcham, which is awesome. Many many hours spent painting and we now have loads more walls to fill with images! It's a great space and it has a great vibe. Very exciting times!
